20 Poorest Countries In The World 2012

The rankings below were published in Wikipedia from International Monetary Fund’s 2011 gross domestic product per capita (GDP per capita) report and reflecting the countries with the lowest purchasing power parity (PPP). Since 1970, there has been encouraging news emerging from developing countries. According to the UN’s 2010 Human Development Report, life expectancy in developing countries has increased from 59 years in 1970 to 70 years in 2010. School enrollment climbed from 55% to 70% of all primary and secondary school-age children. Also, in the last forty years, per capita GDP doubled to more than ten thousand U.S. dollars. Poor countries are catching up with the wealthier countries, but not all countries are making fast progress. For example, some countries in Sub-Sahara Africa have little or no progress, largely due to the HIV epidemic and civil wars.
The 20 Poorest Countries:

#1. Congo, Democratic Republic of the
GDP Per Capita: $348 (As of 2011)
Not to be mixed with the neighboring Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo has become the poorest country in the world as of 2010. Democratic Republic of the Congo was known as Zaire until 1997. Congo is the largest country in the world that has French as an official language – the population of D.R Congo is about six million larger than the population of France (71 million people in D.R Congo vs 65 million in France). The Second Congo War beginning in 1998 has devastated the country. The war that involves at least 7 foreign armies is the deadliest conflict in the world since World War II – by 2008 the Second Congo War and its aftermath had killed 5.4 million people.

Scientists discover how owls rotate their heads without cutting off blood supply

Scientists discovered four major adaptations that facilitate neck movement
They studied snowy, barred and great horned owls that had already died
Vessel connections found between the carotid and vertebral arteries

It always appeared to fly in the face of logic.
But now, the biological secrets that allow owls to rotate their heads without cutting off their blood supply have finally been unravelled.
Scientists discovered four major adaptations in owls designed to prevent injury when the animals rotate their overly large heads by up to 270 degrees.
The study found that the birds' unique bone structures and vascular systems let them move with increased flexibility.

Scientists at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the US found that the vertebral artery enters the neck higher than in other birds, creating more slack. Above, a long-eared owl

Sex can make or break a union

Deal quickly with a nooky-less marriage

What causes a sex drought in a relationship?

SEX and intimacy are vital parts of any intimate relationship, so if you are living in a sexless union it can be frustrating and depressing.
A sexless relationship can take place in a marriage or de facto union or even in a long-term relationship between a couple.
Whatever the case might be, a sexless relationship is difficult to cope with and sometimes difficult to pin down exactly, says Asiphe Ndlela, a clinical psychologist in Illovo, Johannesburg.
It is estimated that more than 15 percent of couples living together in South Africa are in sexless relationships.

Who killed Bob Marley?

You are free to post your side of the story.

Was Bob Marley murdered?

“Rasta don’t work for no CIA”

Did the CIA really kill Bob Marley? How’s that for a Blunt Question? This is only one of many Blunt Questions that remain unanswered nearly 22 years after Bob Marley’s translation from this world into another dimension.

When the newz broke in Jamaica on May 11, 1981, that Bob Marley had passed on from this world at the Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Miami, the immediate and initial response by politically savvy Rastafarians in Jamaica was that the Reggae Maestro had been murdered, or more correctly, assassinated! At the time, the Rastas didn’t know exactly who, when, where or how, but they knew enough to suspect foul play with extreme prejudice. Of course, anyone who heard that reasoning, scoffed at it. After all, everyone knows that cancer is a fatal disease, and Bob had it and died from it and that’s a great pity… but murdered? How ridiculous! Maybe, or maybe not. Not when you stop and really think about it. Who would want to? Who would be able to and how could it be done so skillfully without suspicion?

The health secrets that women keep.

(BPT) - Secret bottles in the medicine cabinet? Frequent trips to the bathroom? Moodiness, fatigue or changes in social behavior?
Everyone has secrets – that’s no surprise. But whether little or big, secrets can make a real difference in quality of life. When it comes to women keeping their health issues to themselves, the effects can be unnecessary, turning something potentially treatable into a misery to live with. By speaking up about those secret health issues, women can make their lives much more comfortable and enjoyable.
Health is a highly personal subject by nature, but there are experiences that almost all women share. Discussing what you’re going through, or even what you don’t understand, with friends, family and, most importantly, your doctor can lead to greater understanding and better treatment solutions. Within families, it’s particularly important for women to talk about their health, as many issues are genetic and carry over from generation to generation.

'Better sex life linked to division of housework'

Dear Husband: Be warned that not helping at all, may affect your woman's libido

Don't make your man do too much cleaning - it may affect his libido

Couples wanting to improve their sex lives may want to look at how they divide household chores, because men and women who follow traditional roles have sex more often than other couples, researchers say.
In a study that analyzed the roles of 4,500 heterosexual married couples in the United States, researchers found that when women handled the cooking, cleaning and shopping, and men did yard work and car maintenance, they had more active sex lives.
“The results show that gender still organizes quite a bit of everyday life in marriage,” Julie Brines, a University of Washington associate professor of sociology and a co-author of the study, said in a statement. “In particular, it seems that the gender identities husbands and wives express through the chores they do also help structure sexual behaviour.”
The findings, which are published in the American Sociological Review journal, showed that couples with traditional roles at home had sex 1,6 times more per month than those in which the husband did all the traditionally female work.
But Brines and her colleagues said the findings should not be used by men as an excuse not to help out at home.
“Men who refuse to help around the house could increase conflict in their marriage and lower their wives’ marital satisfaction,” said lead author Sabino Kornrich, a former UW graduate student who is now a researcher at the Juan March Institute in Madrid.
Although the data used in the study was collected from 1992 to 1994, which is the most recent survey looking into sexual frequency among married couples, Brines said it is unlikely that sex in the marital home has changed much since then.
“Marriage today isn’t what it was 30 or 40 years ago, but there are some things that remain important,” she said. “Sex and housework are still key aspects of sharing a life, and both are related to marital satisfaction and how spouses express their gender identity.”

Hazel Jones: A woman with two vaginas.

"Most boyfriends get one choice. My fella has two"
Woman Born With Two Vaginas, Hazel Jones speaks out her experience
Hazel Jones, 27, appeared on a television show called "This Morning" to reveal an unusual medical condition to the world: because of something called uterus didelphys, the UK woman has two vaginas, as well as two uteruses and two cervixes.
The gorgeous blonde, who likes to "celebrate" her unique body, said she first realized she was different when she began her period at age 14. "It wasn't fun," she said. "I used to suffer from horrendous cramps... I now know that my periods were worse because I have two wombs."
Still, Jones only discovered her condition after losing her virginity at age 18. Her boyfriend at the time noticed something was "different", so Jones went to a local hospital to get checked out.

Rastafarians in Kenya: Untold Stories, Rastafari Livity!!!

Rastafarianism gaining adherents as disdain weakens

80 years after its founding in Jamaica, Rastafarianism gaining adherents as disdain weakens
BULLBAY, Jamaica - The robed Rastafarian priest looked out over the turquoise sea off Jamaica's southeast coast and fervently described his belief that deliverance is at hand.Around him at the sprawling Bobo Ashanti commune on an isolated hilltop, a few women and about 200 dreadlocked men with flowing robes and tightly wrapped turbans prayed, fasted, and fashioned handmade brooms — smoking marijuana only as a ceremonial ritual.

"Rasta church is rising," declared Priest Morant, who wore a vestment stitched with the words "The Black Christ." ''There's nothing that can turn it back."

The Rastafarian faith is indeed rising in Jamaica, where new census figures show a roughly 20 per cent increase in the number of adherents over a decade, to more than 29,000. While still a tiny sliver of the mostly Christian country's 2.7 million people, Jalani Niaah, an expert in the Rastafari movement, says the number is more like 8 to 10 per cent of the population, since many Rastas disdain nearly all government initiatives and not all would have spoken to census takers.

Tanzanians love their music, but are denied!

We seem to have totally abandoned efforts that were there in the 1960s and 70s, when Tanzanians strived to reinvent themselves and discard undesirable cultural traits that were a consequence of close to a century of colonial bondage.
There is no area where this is more brazenly displayed than in entertainment. There is little regard Tanzanian music and dances, which is a shame. Our country is blessed with a diversity of peoples – around 120 ethnic groups – each with rich cultural heritage that our artistes could base their creative energies.
We don’t care for these anymore. Instead, our musicians, go to great lengths to “copy and paste” foreign beats, fronting them as Tanzanian, simply because the lyrics are in Kiswahili.
The excuse from the artistes, producers and promoters is that they offer what the people want. But it is not true that Tanzanians are not keen on music that is traditional, ostensibly because it “doesn’t sell”.
Our artistes are simply not giving it to them, being as they are victims of Western cultural machinations. And, we aver, laziness. They want quick results, so the thinking is: if there are ready-made beats, why sit down and create original hits based on our own heritage?
Now the enthusiasm that greeted last Friday’s show at the Russian Cultural Centre, organised by Focus on Me, rubbishes the notion that Tanzanians aren’t keen on their traditional dances and music. It was a full house affair, with frenzied audience crying for more throughout.
Let that be a lesson to local players in the entertainment industry, including TV and radio stations. Tanzanians are keen on their own beat and song; compose it, promote it and give it to them.
Let us have Bongo Flava alright, but derive it from our own beats and rhythms. Slavish copycatting and blind copycatting at the expense of our own cultural roots is a big shame!
